How to choose a phone under ₹15,000
By Bazaar Picks · 4 min read
Budget phones in India have become very good. The trick is knowing which specs matter for how you use your phone, and which ones are just on the box to impress.
1. Start with RAM and storage
Look for at least 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. This keeps apps smooth for two to three years and leaves space for photos and WhatsApp media, which fill up phones faster than anything else.
2. Check the processor, not just the brand
Search the processor name with the word "review" before you buy. A newer mid-range chip beats an older one with a bigger number. If you play games, give this the most weight.
3. Battery and charging
A 5000 mAh battery is now standard and lasts a full day for most people. Check whether the charger is included in the box, since some brands sell it separately.
4. Camera megapixels can mislead
A 50 MP main camera does not guarantee good photos. Look at sample photos in reviews, especially low-light shots. Ignore extra "macro" or "depth" cameras; they rarely add much.
5. Software updates
Check how many years of Android and security updates the brand promises. More years means your phone stays safe and useful for longer.
